Invitation count?

I was wondering how many invitations would I have to order to 150 people. I don't t think I would need 150 since I have families and couples attending. How many invites did you ladies order according to your head count. Thanks in advance

To determine how many invitations I needed, this is what I did.....

I know for a head count for the RH you need the total # of people, but for invitations, it's not necessarily half, b/c like you said, some people will bring guests, some have kids, etc.

So I organized my guest list by typing all the couples' names and single guest in alphabetical order by last name. If they had a guest, I wrote 'and guest,' if there were kids under 18, I included their name next to their parents' last name, and if they're over 18 living at home, I wrote their names individually as Mr. So-and-So or Ms. So-and-So since each gets their own invitation.

Hope this makes sense.

My list sort of looks like this:

LastName A, Mr. and Mrs. FirstName
LastName B, Mr. and Mrs. FirstName and daughter
LastName C, Mr. FirstName and guest
LastName D, Ms. FirstName and guest


Then I just counted down the list to see how many invitations I'd need to send out. We're having a small-ish wedding, 125 total people invited, and it came out to 65 invitations.

I ordered about 25 more invitations than I needed to send, to allow for keepsakes, extras in case we added to the guest list or they were lost in the mail, etc. I also want to send one to ourselves as a keepsake.

I also ordered 25 extra outer envelopes. I'd recommend this whether you're going to address them yourself (hand or computer calligraphy) or have a calligrapher do them. Mistakes are inevitable, and I certainly used my share of extras while printing my own envelopes and feeding them through my printer.
