Invitation design problem...

My FH is a graphic designer and he's designing the invitations for the wedding. 'Great,' you say. Not so much. Our taste and styles are completely different (he's more graphic and modern, and I'm classic/contemporary with a bit of whimsy), and I'm not loving anything he's showing me. I know what I want, and it's not what he wants. (We're doing letterpress invitations, which by its very nature is classic/contemporary with a bit of whimsy.)

He's been an equal partner in the wedding planning, and I don't want to disregard what he likes, but I don't want to tell him, 'too bad, do it my way.' I'm trying to be as nice as I can, and he had valid points for his design choices, but short of telling him that he has to do it my way, I'm stuck.

Suggestions?

I am a Graphic Artist and designed our invites. FH & I luckily have similar taste, but he also says 'Whatever you want dear'..haha. I did a layout, showed him...and we tweaked it together to what we both liked.

Have you expressed any of the ideas you were hoping for, to him? You can say 'Honey I love what you have done, but can we try somethink like this...just to see?'...sometimes we have egos and think what we've designed is the best, but it all comes down to pleasing your 'client' which in this case is you...I would arm yourself with some pics of invites you like and ask him if he can incorporate them into the designs....good luck!
