invitation design process

invitation design process

Originally I was going to DIY the invitations but now I don't really want to go through the hassle of it all. Anyway I contacted 'her' t-e-s-s-a. She's already sent me 7 different sample designs and I don't like any of them

I feel bad telling her that I don't like last 4 she sent me but I'm not going to get something I don't like either. Anyway now I'm debating just getting the invite I created printed and cut which was what I really don't want to do myself instead of getting invites from her. BTW I already bought all the supplies so it would save $$ too. We're willing to call it a loss on the supplies if she can wow us with a design...

How many samples did you girls go through before you got what you really liked? I feel like maybe I'm being too picky or something but FH doesn't like any of them either so I dont know

<-------- crashing
She made like 4 or 5 different designs for me. I wouldn't feel bad telling her you don't like the ones she sent. She's super nice and will totally work with you. Do you know exactly what you don't like? Or can you tell her what to change? I know the more input you give to her the better. HTH

Re: invitation design process

let's try this again...

i am also using her. i decided to use her b/c so many girls on this site raved about her and the invitations in her portfolio are gorgeous. i had really high expectations. when i initially contacted her, i told her exactly what i wanted my invitations to look like. well, when she e-mailed me back my first four proofs, i absolutely hated them. i felt like she wasn't listening to what i said and she wasn't getting my vision. i was ready to give up. i told her how i felt and she was totally patient and worked with me. i can't even begin to tell you how many e-mails i sent to her. she did not complain once and was really awesome to work with. after 17 designs (yes, i'm that picky), she nailed it. i love the invitations she created for me. i'm actually having a hard time deciding between two of them. also, keep in mind that seeing the proof on the computer and seeing it in person are completely different. the invitations in person are amazing! i suggest that you go through her portfolio and pick out elements that you like from the invitations she has already created - be specific. also, you might want to send her the invitation that you created on your own so that she can get a better idea of the look you're going for. hope that helps!

if you want, i can bump my thread about my invitations. i posted pictures =)

I had the same situation as Pam (above me)

I wasn't impressed at first and felt like she didn't understand what I wanted. But she kept revising and revising and now I'm pleased. As a matter of fact she sent me it in the mail and I made some revisions and just mailed her back my approval.
Honestly, The design is a bit more whimsical than I ever wanted (i'm more of a modern chick), but after working with her and seeing different designs, I'm very happy with my style and design!

If you want to see mine, go to her portfolios and see AmberH in the works in progress. That's the one I went with just with hot pink ribbon instead of the green.

Good luck...

as a designer myself, you definitely need to tell her you don't like them, and give feedback on what specifically you don't like, and what you do like if anything. If you don't you will just go back and forth and it's time consuming for the both of you.
HTH!
