Invitation DILEMMA!!!

Ok girls I need you help. (sorry so long)
So my parents are paying for I would say 85% of the wedding. But my parents are also divorced and both remarried... Ok stay with me..
My FH parents are paying for the other 15% (their guests).
Now what hell should I write on the invitation..
We had orginally

Mr. and Mrs. My dad
and
Mr. and Mrs. My mom
request the pleasure of your company at the wedding of their daugther
Me
to
FH
son of Mr. and Mrs. Grooms parents

Grooms parents do not like the wording, they say it sounds like the wedding is only being given by my parents....What do I do! If we put all three sets of names up top, FH and my name will be almost at the bottom of the invite... HELP@!!!!!!! Getting stressed!

Re: Invitation DILEMMA!!!

That is the traditional wedding invitation wording. I don't think it seems that JUST your parents are paying for the wedding. Heck, that's my wording and me and my FH are paying.

You could always say your names with their parents request...

Re: Invitation DILEMMA!!!

I guess if my parents weren't divorced it would look fine with 2 lines of parents, but 3 lines of parents is a little much.
Am I being crazy please be honest!!

I like this one, do the new spouses have to be mentioned? In reality its only the parents right?

Re: Invitation DILEMMA!!!

ughhh thank you so much for posting this question because I am having the same issue!!!! Not so much getting any pressure from my parents or FH's but I want to do it the right way! My parents are divorced and my mom is remarried. FH's parents are still married but my Dad is paying for the wedding. A lot of people have suggested and one of my good friends just did the top 3 lines as:
Mr. My Dad
Mrs. My Mom
Mr and Mrs, FH parent's
request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their children. I still have no idea what I will end up using but all the posts def help!!! :) Good Luck and let me know what you decide to go with!!!!!

first of all, are you going to put
Mr. & Mrs. John Smith (for your dad and his new wife)
and Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Jones (for your mom and her new husband)

or will you just put
Mr John SMith and Mrs. Jane Jones
and
Mr. & Mrs. FIL
reuqest the honor your ....

when parents are divorced and remarried, their new spouses names do not go on the invites, the honor only goes to the actual parents.
sorry to say, but that's the way its listed in Emily Posts Ettiquette book

Re: Invitation DILEMMA!!!

That is the traditional way and it also is typical when the brides family is paying. I've seen a lot of
'together with our families' recently and think thats a very 'politically correct' way of doing things

Re: Invitation DILEMMA!!!

Thanks for all the input! I spoke with the women who is doing my invitations she says it can go either way! She is going to make a new proof with just my parents on top and then with all 3 sets of parents on top so I can see what it looks like... I will repost so you guys can see too.
She did say that more formal way is for my parents to be on top and FH under his name. That people really dont look at invitations anymore trying to pick out because of name placement who is paying for what! I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE!!!!
