When doing my wedding invitation, I want to put my parents on the invite even though they are not paying for the wedding.. does it matter that they aren't paying and I put them on there?

Re: Invitation Etiquette ?
We pretty much paid for our wedding ourselves too...and put our parents names on our invites...we thought it was a nice idea.

Re: Invitation Etiquette ?
You can do anything you want. We put all the parents (mine are divorced) regardless of their financial contribution. IMO it's a nice way to honor them

Re: Invitation Etiquette ?
You can do whatever you want. My FILs are paying for anything but my parents are helping us so I put both sets of parents names on the invitation.

Re: Invitation Etiquette ?
You can do whatever you want. Just one bit of advice, consider your FIL's feelings when you do. My FBIL left his parents off of the invites and put the bride's parents on even though they didn't contribute and his parents we VERY offended by it. People get touchy about some things. But, I think you should do what makes you happy.

Re: Invitation Etiquette ?
We are paying for the bulk of the wedding ourselves. My mother is giving us a generous gift $$$$ and so is his mother. My father is paying for our honeymoon. We wanted to include the parents on the invite, but I didn't want to take up all the room with 3 sets of parents (mine are divorced & remarried for years)
So the invite says:
Together with our parents...........
no names listed. no one gets offended! ^

Re: Invitation Etiquette ?
You really can word it however you like. We're also paying for everything - with the exception of my dress - but we decided on:
Together with their families...

I didnt want to offend anyone so both sets of parents names are on it. I really didnt want to start a little war b/c I knew comments would have been made.

Re: Invitation Etiquette ?
I don't think it's improper etiquette at all. We put all of our names (Together with our parents) b/c everyone is contributing and we felt that was only fair but if one party wasn't contributing I'd still have done the same thing. They're happy you'r being married and are helping plan it (in my situation at least) so I would definitely include them
