Invitation Etiquette

I was wondering what the proper etiquette for invitations would be if FMIL is widowed and not remarried. Would it be:

Mrs. Jane Doe
Ms. Jane Doe
Mrs. John Doe

I think Mrs. Jane Doe is best.

I think Mrs. Jane Joe is correct. I'm not sure I would be comfortable using a deceased person's name on the invitation. JMO!!

Re: Invitation Etiquette

The age of the person usually makes a difference.
Many older women (the over 70 crowd) many times would prefer the formality of Mrs. John Doe to honor their late husband. Also they just feel more comfortable with this more formal name. They may feel it's a matter of respect, too.

Other women, no matter what age like the more modern or contemporary approach. It's an matter of knowing your guests and doing what you think will make them comfortable and you happy.

Both solutions correct.

Best of Luck!
