invitation help

We weren't planning on adding parents names to the invites, besides FH and I were paying for everything. Then FHs father gave us $ towards the wedding. Should we put his name on the invite? SHould we include all parents. I didn't want to add parents names partly because some are divorced and remarried, some are single etc. I thought it would be very confusing.

Could we just write 'the parents of' and not write their names?

Could we not include parents names at all?

I really don't know today's etiquette.

TIA!

Re: invitation help

I am in the same situation as you. Both of my parents are remarried and FH parents have been married for a long time. FH and I are paying for the wedding primarily ourselves. My Dad is paying for our honeymoon and FH parents gave some money towards the wedding. But we chose not to use thier names.

However you can put 'the parents of' or you can choose not to name them at all. Our parents would not take it personal or anything like that. But if you think it may cause some riff in the family, I would just say the parents of....

O.k. thanks so much!
I think I'm going to put 'the parents of' that way we did at least mention them. I dont want to cause any trouble before I even am family! LOL Thats what Im going to do. FH and I dont really mind either way.
