Invitation help please?

Invitation help please?

My invitations don't come with an inner envelope... So where do I write
Mr Jim Doe & Guest. Can you put it on the outer envelope? Is that proper? How about if you're inviting Mr & Mrs Jim Doe and Children. Do you write 'and children' or Do you write Mr & Mrs Jim Doe and Jim Doe Jr on the outer envelope?

If you're not having inner envelopes, then you'll have to write it on the outers.

I wouldn't write 'and children'... I'd write 'and family'

If you're inviting Mr. and Mrs. Smith and their children, I'd write 'The Smith Family' on the invitation. I'm in the same situation so that's what we're doing.
