My calligrapher had a great idea when I sent my invites out.
He had one invitation address to us as husband and wife and we sent it through the mail with everyone else's. We got it and put it away.
We haven't decided when we would open it if at all, but I think it's a nice keepsake. It has a hand canceled date stamp, beautiful calligraphy, our names and it will have our memories.
Just a thought if anyone is interested and hadn't thought of it yet.

Re: Invitation Idea
I will defiantely mail one to myself, not sure if I will put our married name on it or not.

Re: Invitation Idea
I mailed one to myself and I loved getting it in the mail. Plus it was the last time I was going to be 'Miss Sasha MaidenName'. I opened it with DH before the wedding and that's the invite we used for the photographer's pictures...
Definitely mail one to yourself, it's a great way to see how the invites arrive.

Re: Invitation Idea
The married name thing was a little weird to me at first, but after some convincing, we agreed that for years to come we will appreciate it. He was right and we're glad we did it that way.

Re: Invitation Idea
I read some place that you should do that to see how long it takes for you to get it then you know that other got it and that the postage was correct

Re: Invitation Idea
This is something I never thought about doing. I have to tell my FI about it. Sounds like a great keepsake.
