i am really trying to work on a budget for the wedding. we are having invitations made with matching RSVP cards (pics below). I can have matching direction & accommodation cards made but it will cost another $200. What do you think of making these basic inserts and including them instead (these will cost me maybe $20). the paper wouldnt match but they would have a black trim like the invites. In the scheme of things i know its only another $200 but everything little bit helps...plus everyone throws out the invites anyway.
would you think its tacky if you opened up an invite like this?
I think it looks great! You can't tell at all that it's not part of it! We're not doing accommodations or direction cards. Our invite person is making us a file that says for directions, accommodations and more information please visit (our web site) . We're just going to print it business card size from vistaprint and include that with the invites.

Re: invitation inserts
thanks ladies!! i appreciate the feedback the paper will not match (the inserts will be on a glossy white paper and the invite/rsvp is on a textured white) but i guess its close enough.
I LOVE the idea of doing an insert that says for directions visit our website!!! hmm maybe i can do that instead lol
I was making the inserts on vistaprint too (free postcards) and was going to either use them full size or cut them in half.

Re: invitation inserts
I think it looks fine. The design matches fine. I am using insert cards for directions, accommodations and reception information. The invite still requires 61 cents so I might as well. By the way, the cardstock I'm using is $19 for 100 sheets.

Re: invitation inserts
it's definitely ok to DIY them and save yourselves some money. We got the RSVP and Reception insert with our invites but I DIYed the Accomodations and Directions insert on similar colored cardstock as the invites and used the same fonts as the invites so it still matches.

Re: invitation inserts
I would not think it's tacky. In fact I wouldn't even notice that it wasn't supposed to be that way. I wasn't planning on doing all 4 inserts, but I like the way 'she' does them so they all line up in the envelope, so I spent the $$.
I think it's a GREAT way to save $200. I don't think anyone would notice or expect a design on the direction cards, etc.
