Invitation Labels?

Invitation Labels?

Do you guys think it is tacky to put the address on a clear label instead of printing it directly on the envelope?

i was gonna do that and see how it looked....

Some people think it will look okay and others say no? I don't know what to do? Everytime I try to print them on the envelope it gets smeared or the envelope gets jammed in the printer. And I am not going to pay someone $1.00 per invitation for caligraphy. I have already spent enough $$.

Every wedding etiquette article I have read, even the 'dos and don'ts' that came with my invitations all said NO to labels.

What kind of printer do you have?

I had a ink jet and my jammed, but then tried my DH's printer (he had one for photos) it worked! Becasue I think it could push through thicker/photo paper. Also I did envelope at a time - it took time but they came out beautiful.

maybe your work computer is better. I have a deskjet at home and a nice laserjet printer at work

I've read tons of posts that it's tacky...blah blah blah, but my friend actually did this and it looked quite nice. She used the clear labels and printed in blue. I was surprised.

I'm putting each envelope through the printer instead.

I would try to run them through any printers available to you first - and as a last resort do the labels.
Honestly, clear labels are not my first choice, but I don't think it's all that terrible a thing in the scheme of things

I seriously considered it. I even argued with people who told me not to do it. However, I think I've resolved to hiring a calligrapher and NOT using labels.

I will probably use the labels for my thank yous though. It seems easier than feeding the envelopes and I cannot hand write the addreses because my handwriting is terrible. I will hand write the message in the thank yous though.

I would also say no labels. I think I am going to have the same problem. You can always go to Kinkos and use their printer. I don't know how much it would be, but I'm sure less than a caligrapher (sp?)

Who cares what etiquette says as long as you like it. Personally I did not have the time, $$ or patience to print each individual envelope. But if you do, more power to you! Just do what YOU like.

Send them to Bill @ Inkspun! He charges 39 cents per envelope and usually sends them back a day or two after receiving them!! They look AMAZING!

I used the Avery clear labels along with an elegant font and it looked perfect to me. Not one of my guests called to say how tacky it looked

same here....and I figured that since I usually dont pay attention to the outside envelope....most other dont either....as long as what is inside is elegant....and of course people should be honored to recieve the invite.
