invitation madness -- a little long, but advice please
OK, I was up really late last night finishing them. FH is away on his first business trip ever, so I had to do them myself. They are all stuffed and stamped. There are a few that my friend made mistakes on when she printed the addresses on the envelopes, so I'm waiting for her to correct them and get those to me tomorrow. I didn't want to mail any of them out until I got those, because I didn't want some people to get invites before others. But then I couldn't help myself this morning, and sent some out to close family (like my mom) and very close friends. I just dropped them in the mailbox. Is that OK? I have the rest all ready to go out, and I know all you ladies talk about hand cancelling and stuff -- is it really bad to go for a walk and just put them in the mailbox rather than going to the post office? I am sooooo very tempted to just go out and drop them in the mailbox right now. Thoughts? Opinions?

I have dropped both my engagement announcements and save the dates in the box and all went perfect...I would do it...no worries!

Hand cancelling is TOTALLY optional, NOT NECESSARY!!
Take a walk, drop them in the mailbox and be done with them!

Dropping them in the mailbox is fine. I would go and drop them in the mailbox too and be done with them.
Hand cancellingis when you bring them into the post office all letters go thru 2 machines...you get to hand stamp your envelopes and save them from going thru both-instead they only go thru one machine and it makes the outside of the envelope a little nicer and it helps if you are doing bulky invitations so they dont get torn up. I did it for my first set of invites but the ones that I came back i just dropped in the mailbox and everything got to where it needed to get to
