soo I decided to make my own invites and they have been a nightmare!
it was a diy kit from target and had two holes on it to put a ribbon through. I decided to put the BRIDES pearls from micheals on all the invites instead. So I did a test run in the mail to send the invite to myself and the pearls ripped the envelope. I am sooo made-I spent so much money practicing on this stupid invite and now the damm pearls ripped the envelope and got ruined!!!
pls help me to decide how to cover the two holes on the invtie now!
heres a pic of the sample -but i just hated how the ribbn looked

the post office said they get caught in the machine where the pearls are on the invite.
Did you ask the post office to hand cancel the invites?

sorry forgot to mention they did hand cancel the invite but they said it got ruined through the sorting machine

If it only was ruined due to the pearls being caught when running through the postal machine, won't having the invites hand canceled solve this? Isn't that where they hand stamp all the invites so they don't need to run through machine?

the invites go through two machines, so even if they get hand cancelled they still go through a sorting machine
I am soo made-this whole making your own invites is not fun

You could wrap a ribbon around the whole top (one single piece wrapped around and glue down in the back, not tied in bow). You could add a rhinestone or something slimmer on top of that flat ribbon.

I had a similar issue. If the invitation is rigid and can't go through the bar coding machine, you can pay for extra postage so that it does not get damaged. It's usually an extra 20 cents per envelope (this may vary). I went to a few post offices explaining my situation and got a different story from each one. I did however, have a great experience at the Roosevelt Field post office. I've asked a few friends and relatives about the condition of the invites they've received, and so far so good :)
I totally understand that with the USPS, there are no guarantees, but paying the extra postage was worth it to me. HTH Good luck with everything!

sorry, totally feel your pain! DIY invites are such a pain....i was so ready to give up when i started...
i really like the ribbon tho! Did you try mailing a sample with the ribbon?
