Invitation Poll -- Need input!!

Please answer the poll and give any comments...

(I've seen couples use their engagement picture as the background image for their invitations...would you, are you, or do ya know somebody?)

i vote No as i think the -e-pics are good for
the TY for the e-party.

Wedding invit should set the tone of the
wedding ie bells, doves, rings etc

I agree. I would not do that either.

My friend had a couple picture and it made the invitation look very casual. If that is the look you are going for -go for it.

I've seen it done.

It was a photo of the couple far, far in the background (almost like a silhouette) and it wasn't a formal 'Engagement Picture' it was taken when they were on vacation on the beach with palm trees. And on top of the picture was invitation writing.

Re: Invitation Poll -- Need input!!

we used a bunch of pics of ourselves for the eparty invite.. because it's theme was a movie premier so on part of it we had a film strip of random pics of us.

for our wedding invites they'll probably be more like a movie poster (can you guess our theme) but i have no idea if that will have any pics of us yet. they haven't been designed because we still have time for those.

i think it all depends on what kind of invite you want. pictures to me seem more personal.

I think something like that is nice for programs but am going pretty classic for the invites themselves.

i think if you are looking to set a more casual tone, it looks beautiful.

What was your opinion of the invite?

I was thinking trying for a different look, with a watermark photo of us as the backdrop with a vellum (?) overlay with the actual wording of the invitation. Simple and personal but not sure if it's possibly an elegant look?

I like 'different' but all the ones I have seen do not look formal enough. Maybe if it was a small wedding I would have thought about it.

I wouldn't put a picture on the invitation. How about a nice shot of the two of you out at the reception?

I'm not but I used one for our save the date cards.

Re: Invitation Poll -- Need input!!

we didnt put any pics in the invitation

i think it all depends on the layout itself.. and what you are going for with them (as they say that the invitation sets the tone for the wedding)- are you going classic/ traditional, or a more laid back/ unique type of approach?

Essentially, though, if You love it, and want to do it... then Go for it!!

Sorry I just saw your message today.

I thought it was different and also thought how come I didn't think of it for myself It was more of a picture (pale picture - not black/white, but not very bold in color) not a watermark with the wording over the picture (the wording was written in red). But it gave more of a causal look to the invite - it wasn't to elegant, if that's what your looking for.

Mine was a white card with hearts/silver boarder and the print was in black and I did it my self (one of those invitation packets from Staples)

I like the idea for a TY but not for an invite... JMHO. I tend to lean towards very formal invites. I have this thing with people dressing appropriately for weddings and funerals... our society is becoming too casual in some areas... JMHO. I want my very formal invitation to set the tone for my wedding, especially since it's day-time and mine is fairly formal for a daytime wedding.

Since my wedding goes from late afternoon to evening, i do want formal, but i can't really afford the expensive formal invites and will be doing them myself. I do like the staples idea though!!
