Invitation Ques...

Hey Ladies,
I am an 08er. I'm in the process of thinking of invites types, price etc. I am a very practical person and thus far, have spent more on what is important to me...My question is-did people comment on your invites?

I want nice, but I'm not willing to break the bank as I have with venue, OPEN BAR, photos, video and entertainment AND ATTIRE.
Please Advise...

people told me how much they liked mine...but they were DIY and a bit different compared to what they were used to...i wasn't going to spend alot on something that people end up throwing out...there are definitely nice invites out there for great prices!!!

People defenitely notice a unique invitation, especially if its made on nice paper and 'feels' nice in your hands. You don't have to spend $20/invite to get something people are going to notice. It's all about what is important to you and where you want to spend your money.

If you need recomendations on vendors FM me!!

Good luck!

Invitations were very high on my priority list, they are the first impression your guests get of the wedding and even though everyone says that its a waste because guests just throw them out --- they do hold onto them for 2 months until the wedding passes! Flowers die in hours or days, the music stops when the party ends ...

I definitely spent A LOT more than the average person (and I made them myself). They were mailed in boxes, and were addressed by a hand calligrapher.

I cannot even count the number of compliments I received, and it was worth every penny and every hour they took to create.

It is definitely not necessary to go as far as I did with the invitations, but I do believe that people notice the differences in the quality of paper and other details.

People definitely complimented me on my choice in invites. Just recently I had a guest ask me where I got my invites because her cousin is getting married and my guest showed her my invite which she just loved. So people definitely notice.

People also commented on mine, even though they were simple. We ordered them from Costco believe it or not and saved hundreds of dollars. There have been other brides that have gotten their invititations from Party City or DIY kits from Michaels Crafts.

I think first off, you should do some internet research or go to an invitation store and figure out what styles you like. Once you do that you can price shop and determine if its worth it for you to DIY or not.

Re: Invitation Ques...

i have to say I really wanted pocketfolds, and everyone told me don't spend a lot on invations cause no one will notice and they just get thrown away. I really wanted them but was on a strict budget. In the end I went with them and used printedstar.com.. She doesn't have to many pics on her website but you just email her and she will work with whatever you want. They came out amazing. In the end, I got SO MANY calls just 2 days after how amazing our invites looked. I never expected anyone to call, so I think it was worth it. But you have to deicde, how much $$ is worth people noticing this. But people do notice the small things to even though a lot of people say they don't. I found every little detail I did was noticed by many. I think those were noticed more so then the big things that are expected. GL
