I was just wondering about how you address invitations to single guests. Do you just put Mr. John Doe on the outside envelope and then Mr. John Doe and Guest on the inside envelope, or do you put Mr. John Doe and Guest on both outside and inside? I'm so confused!!!

Re: Invitation Question
You would put Mr. John Doe on the outside and the inner would read, John Doe and Guest.
The outside envelope is traditionally a formal invite by using Mr or Mrs. The inner envelope usually is for their first names and this is where you would put guest.
The only time you would put guest on the outside address is when you may use a box and are not using inner and out envelopes. I hope this helps

Re: Invitation Question
I know etiquette dictates that just the individual name goes on the outer envelope, with the 'and guest' on the inner; however, I'm putting the 'and guest' on both.
I was invited to a wedding a few years ago. The invitation was addressed just to me and I thought I'd been invited without a guest. I never looked at the inner envelope and didn't realize the 'and guest' was on that.
Tecnically, you're supposed to have Mr. John Smith on the outer and John Smith and Guest on the inner.
Edited for typos.

Re: Invitation Question
My calligrapher has a really helpful section on her website: Addresses
What we're doing is having Mr. John Doe on the outside envelope and then Mr. Doe and Guest on the inside.
