Has anyone used Things N Stuff in Garden City? The guy gives a hard sell and is telling me that for a July wedding I need to get my order in now. I'm not 100% sure what I even want for an invitation yet. I want something simple, yet elegant, contemporary yet not informal looking. I tend to like the square shape better than the rectangle, no ribbons or bows.

Re: Invitation question
I don't know anything about this place in particular but rest assured that you still have some time to place your order...I got married 7/29 last year and didn't place our order until mid April...I'm not saying to wait THAT long but...

Re: Invitation question
He might be saying that bc he's really busy and if you want to place an order with HIM you'll need to order now. You do send the invites out about 2 months before and you'll need some time to get them addressed so don't wait too long, but you shouldn't have to order them just yet. It seems like he's just concerned about HIS lead time to get them in.

Re: Invitation question
I stopped in there and had a chat with him. I'm sure anything they do will be really beautiful, but he told me that my idea was on the verge of tacky AND i left there feeling like i should have ordered my invites already (this was 3 weeks ago).
Later that day we saw exactly what my idea is at another vendor and it looks beautiful.

Re: Invitation question
Sorry, haven't used that store but you are fine to wait a little (not too long though) longer to order your invites. I started looking in the fall for invitations but just ordered them at the beginning of Jan for our April wedding. (They're coming this week, yea!) Like someone else said, it's probably that if you want to use him, his schedule is getting booked so that's why he's pressuring you.

Re: Invitation question
I would say you have until April...March if you really want to be safe. Early Feb is a bit soon for your date. It also depends on how long they are estimating it will take to come in. Mine only took about a week or 2 (if I remember correctly). Every place if different.

Re: Invitation question
Personally, since invitations are not all they do there, I'd say it's more of a hard sell and push for the business than that he's busy. They are a gift shop primarily.
I love how every vendor says their product sets the stage for the wedding... I was laughing when he said the invitations do that. My MOH admitted that this was the one area she didn't spend a lot on, yet she had high end for everything else. The invitation had nothing to do with anything more than letting people know they were invited.
