INVITATION QUESTION

My FH's parents are divorced but his mom kept her married name. I've been told that according to etiquitte, his parents names should be listed one on top of the other without using the word 'and'. Does anyone know if this is correct? How does this invite look? TIA

I dont know if its correct or not, but I do think it looks a little strange without the 'and.' What if you kept the names on top of each other but still put the 'and'? It would still look like they're not married because it doesnt say 'Mr. and Mrs. Frank Xxxxx'

i used and between both of our parents who ae divorced. however i used their first and last names as in:
Ms. Mom Lastname and Mr. Dad Lastname

both sets of our parents are divorced and both women kept their married names....its very wordy but everyone was ok with it..

Actually, I think you are correct and the word 'and' should not be there. I think your invites look correct.

We are doing the same thing. Not sure if there is really a right and a wrong, just personal preference.

The current format is the correct etiquette. However, I'm a big fan of going with what you like - so if it looks strange to you and you don't care if you're breaking etiquette, add the 'and.' I broke at least 3 rules on mine just because I liked the way it looked better.

I thought the 'and' rule was only for addressing envelopes? The invitation is actually a sentence, and you need a conjunction between 2 names, otherwise, at least from my perspective, the sentence seems chopped-up....

I dunno....

Question... Shouldn't it be 'Ms. Alice Lastname' if she is single?

You're right! Yes, absolutely.

Re: INVITATION QUESTION

I think the Ms. vs Mrs. really depends upon what she calls herself. I'm not sure about divorced couples, but I know that at least is the case with widows....

I sort of presumed she's still using Mrs. .....
