Mr & Mrs My Mom and Dad request the honor of your presence at the marriage and celebration of their daughter
Me to FH
son of Mr. Joe Doe and the late Jane Doe
etc..
part of me thinks it's awkward, but part of me thinks it's a nice tribute. i'm going to ask fh and his brother and father what they think before i make any decisions but have any of you ever seen this before?

Re: invitation question
I think it's a nice tribute too.
Then again - if I received it - it would make me sad.
eta: I've never seen it before but I've only been to 6 or so weddings.

Re: invitation question
Thats what I'm doing! I think its perfectly fine. My mother is paying for most of the wedding, and FH's arent paying for anything (possibly the rehearsal dinner) So, I thought I was being nice by adding them in like that. It wasn't proper to put Together with their parents. I think its totally up to you and a lot of people do that!

Re: invitation question
My sister had that on her invites. It was a nice way to show respect to his father.

Re: invitation question
i think its a nice tribute too. ultimately, it should be up to FH though. i received an invitation without the deceased parents name on it and i caught it right away. i was like 'what about mommmm??'

Re: invitation question
i'm thinking it's going to be a touchy subject especially since FFIL re-married i'm not putting her name on the invite only b/c FBIL will have a canary. and they haven't made a single peep about contributing to the wedding. which is shocking to me but whatever. we're not even having a RD b/c there is no need

Re: invitation question
I have no living mother and father but FH's parents are living and helping us pay for eveything so wanted to honor both families so I put:
Danielle __________ and Gary ___________
together with their families invite you to share in the joy and celebration of their marriage.... etc., etc.
Which I did after asking my FMIL and FFIL if they feel confortable with it.
But I do like the way you worded it but shouldn't it be
son of Mr. John Doe and the late Mrs. Jane Doe?
I could be wrong though.

honestly, do what you and FH think is right. some people said it might be sad but in all honesty, the sad part is losing a parent, honoring them on an invite is a tribute....i think it's a nice touch, i will always be my father's daughter and damnit, i'm not taking if off the invite! that was my attitude, but honestly, do what you and fh want...don't worry about what others might think.

Re: invitation question
if his fsather is ok with it then it's perfect. Paul and I wanted to have a memorial and od the same thing in our invite, his mom forbade it .

thanks girls i love the input, but i guess ultimately it up to fh and his brother and dad. i just needed to get some opinions
my thing is that i never met the woman and i feel i that i want to honor her. we're doing a donation in her name as well. i just do not want the guests from my side of the family thinking that his step mom is his mom. i want it out there in the open. i guess fh and i will have a talk tonight

Re: invitation question
Although it does seem a bit weird. I did the same thing for my invitations I felt that I wanted to include both set of parents names. I put Mrs Jack and Mr Jill XYX etc.
Hopefully people wont freak when they see them lol
