Invitation question

Ok my mother and I are a bit confused.....which inviation gets sent out first, the wedding invitation or the bridal shower invitation. I thought the shower invitation was sent out first and then the wedding invitation. My mom on the other hand says no its the other way around because how are you doing to send a bridal shower invitation first when you dont know when the wedding is?

For example my wedding is in september and I plan to send out my invitations by the end of june/beginning of july so im 'thinking' my shower will be in either june or july...

Im confused!!!

i dont think it matters......generally wedding invites are sent out like 8-10 weeks before the wedding....shower invites are like 4-6 weeks before hand....so i guess its really just about the timing of the 2 parties!

did you send out STD's? In that case it doesnt matter b/c they already know when the weddng is! Most people invited should know 'roughly' when our wedding is right?

It really depends on when your shower is. For ex: Say you couldnt do your shower when it is usual done because a of scheduling,sp, conflicts and had to do it 4 months before then of course those would be sent out.
But, that is something I never thought about.

I planned on doing my wedding invites in late March/early April with a RSVP date of May......because my final payment to the RH in May 26

For my shower, im planning on having it (not a surprise).......Around the middle or end of June, so the invite will go around the end of May

Well the shower in normally a suprise so I dont really care on when they send them out! I wish it didnt have to be a suprise but I am just going to let that one be.

But if you did STD's then you should be fine. I just got invited to a wedding and a shower for the same girl and I got the invites on almost the same day. I think I got the wedding invite first and then the shower invite the day after.
