Invitation Question

When you are addressing invitation and there are children invited would you do the outside as:

Mr. & Mrs. John Smith & John Jr.

Or

The Smith Family

?????????

I know on the inners you would write all the names

All I have one where I am inviting the family but the kids are 19 & 20 How would I address that so the kids know that they can bring a date? Would I send them their own?

Thank you

Re: Invitation Question

For the older children (18 and over), we are just sending them their own invitations and on the inner envelopes, we are writing 'Name and Guest.' For children under 18 (we are only inviting 2), we are addressing the outer invitations to the parents, but putting the children's name on the inner envelopes.

According to The Knot's Complete Guide to Weddings in the Real World (which is like a Bible to me), it says, 'Names of children under eighteen need not appear on the outer envelope, but over eighteen-ers who live at home should wither appear on their parents' envelope, or, preferably, be sent their own invitations.'

I also found this website that may answer your question.

www.verseit.com

Hope this helps!

Re: Invitation Question

I did the outside like this:

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and Family

and the inside like this:

Mr. & Mrs. Smith
John and Jane

I would give kids over 16 their own invite.

Good luck!
