invitation question

invitation question

i don't want to spend much on invitations ... i'd rather use the money towards something people will actually remember (like a steel drummer for the CH, for example).

Should i buy pre-printed invitations that are VERY simple, or should i just DIY them?

my goal is to spend no more than $1.50 per invitation.

note i've actually found really pretty DIY kits for this price ... i've also found some nice (though extremely boring) pre-printed ones.

advice please

TIA

Re: invitation question

I highly recommend doing DIY invites! Nobody is going to remember them anyway. I could never imagine paying $4 for something that's going to be thrown out 5 minutes after reading it!

I purchased the Brides Invite Kits from Michael's and I couldn't be happier! They came out to be around $1 an invite since I used tons of 40% off coupons to purchase the boxes. They were extremely easy to get the templates offline and printed and also very easy to jazz up if you wanted to! Good luck! And check out my albums, there's some pics in there!

i would go DIY if you are really creative and have the time over buying a premade, but only bc when i was looking at things online i really didn't see anything i liked, plus those can get really expensive too

Re: invitation question

can you tell me how long it took you to DIY your invites (including printing time, putting together time, etc)?

did you need more than one ink cartridge to print everything out? (i'm thinking one is plenty ... am i right?)

Well, I started early so I could take my time doing it. I printed about 120 invites all together. I think I used a little over one ink cartridge, but I can't tell you exactly because we print a lot of stuff all the time. My brother and sister use that printer for homework and I've printed pictures for vendor apptmts. I could've easily printed all the invites in one day... if I was so inclined. LOL! But I had purchased 3 boxes to start with so I printed all those in one shot and then I purchased to more boxes and printed those all in one day. Naturally, since I have to make everything much more complicated than it is, we purchased Martha Stewart black flocking powder and craft glue and added that to the damask design to make it soft and 3-D! Anyway, HTH!

ETA: The printing also includes RSVP cards. I did not print direction cards, even though the kits came with them. I'm just using the direction cards from JT!
