Invitation Question

Hi All,

So when addressing the invitations is everyone putting, 'Mr & Mrs John Doe' or is anyone putting 'Mr. and Mrs John and Jane Doe'?

I had intentions of using the latter but both sets of parents looked at me funny when I told them this.
