Ok, in my invitations I am going to have the invitation, the response card, the card that will have addresses and hotel info, and also the reception card. On the reception card doi separate times for cocktail hour and reception or do I just put 'at 6 o'clock in teh evening' which would be the start time for cocktail hour and assume people know the reception follows. What are you doing?

Yeah, only put the cocktail hour time but write it as the whole event start time, don't distinguish between the two. So if you're CH starts at 6 pm, put Reception at 6 PM, or however you word it and that's it.

I copied yours...but my dad said how he wants cocktail hour and I like the adult reception thing so everyone knows no kids...but is it necessary? I liked how you did it.

Put reception....or the way minibride did it is great also. Just don't put cocktail 'hour'. The reception card is to tell people what time the whole entire party starts, and the CH is part of the party. As far as the kids, if you didn't invite the kids (meaning you only put Mr. and Mrs. on the invitations), then ppl should not assume that their kids are invited. If you get RSVPs back and ppl add their kids then you or your parents call them and politely tell them that the party is for the invitees (adults) only.

i agree with this. I was torn whether to do 'adult reception' but i don't love the way it sounds.
i'm not doing a reception card since our ceremony is at the same place - i'm just putting reception immediately following

Re: invitation question HELP
I think mine will say Cocktails 7pm formal reception to follow, but I don't think you need a start time for both

I put it bc i thought it was necessary. Even tho my invites say mr and mrs, I do have ppl who are traveling and might assume its ok to bring their kids bc they are traveling, but my list exploded to waaaaaaay over my max... I also know my family and ive read too many horror stories about other brides receiving their rsvps and having to make phone calls.

Yes. You already have it right on yours, from what it reads in your other post.
