Invitation Question...PLEASE HELP!!!!

Which is a more appropriate way to address outer mailing envelopes?

Mr. and Mrs. John Doe and Family

or

Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
and Family

Is it okay if you can't fit all that on one line to put it on two??? We have some long names and not enough room on the envelopes.

I would do on the outside envelope:
Mr. and Mrs. John Doe

and on the inside envelope:
Mr. and Mrs. John Doe and Family
