Ok, so I posted before about some invitations being delivered shredded to some of our guests. Well, my FMIL has been receiving emails and phone calls from people saying they haven't received an invitation and are worried their's got destroyed as well.
We sent our invitations out weeks ago so they all should have been delivered by now. So obviously I am getting very nervous about this with 4 weeks until our wedding and guests not receiving their invites.
My FMIL mentioned she thought we should send an email to everyone and explain the situation and let them know they can go on our wedding website and RSVP there.
What do you think? Under the circumstances, would this be OK? I know it's not proper 'etiquette', but we thought that was the easiest thing to do.
Also, if you have any other idea's, please let me know
Thanks girls ...............

Re: Invitation Question........What would you do?
I think that's fine to do. This is a circumstance that is completely and totally not your fault! How many invitations are we talking here that may have not been received or may have been destroyed? Do you have any invites left that you can send out again? If you do, you can send them out. If not...don't even worry about! Just explain the situation, people will understand! Sorry about all of this!

Well, as of last night, my FMIL's list of people who have contacted her about not receiving an invite is at 36 We made our invites so I do have a small amount of supplies left to make more, but not enough for 36 invites

I think its fine to do also, as I dont think you have that many options, unless you want to call everyone, plus do you have everyones email, that may be more of a chore just to get them, if you do have the all the email addresses, it would be a lot easier, if not, I would start calling next week....

Yes, we do have everyone's email addresses, but we don't have everyone's phone number, so that's why she thought it would be easier to do this by email.........

I would send the emails out explaining what is going on, wow, I just looked you have a very large invite list also, so I would start setting up a mass email and send it off by Saturday.....Good luck with everything, Im sure it will be fine......just keep a smile on your face, it will all work out.....

Yes I think it's more than okay to have people respond via email, and I'd actually try to email or get in touch with in some way, everybody on your list who hasn't responded yet- because you might not know who else hasn't gotten their invite! You do have a big list so it looks like a major chore.... best of luck date twin

Re: Invitation Question........What would you do?
definitely, do it. I was worried that a couple invitations didn't make it to their destinations, so I called people up just to make sure they did.
I simply told them 'I just want to make sure you received your invitation... I know a few invitations were misdelivered or damaged, and I want to avoid any wedding faux pas!!!'
hope this helps!

Re: Invitation Question........What would you do?
I'm so sorry this happened to you. The other posters had good ideas about sending e-mails or RSVPing on your Web site. Is it in your budget to also send out letters (not full invitations) just so the folks with missing invitations have a hard copy? In the letter, you could describe the mailng snafu and include all relevant invitation info. You could do postcards or just use resume paper to cut down on costs.

Re: Invitation Question........What would you do?
call the post office. I heard a story last summer of a bride and groom who's invitations got LOST and the post office sent photocopies to the guests with an apology letter.
It's not the best scenario but worth a try. You can maybe do that in addition to the website, HTH

With this happening and being an emergency and 4wks before the wedding -- it's the best option. I'm SURE everyone will totally understand! Just explain what happened. I'm so sorry about your invites -- that s u c k s!
