100 rectangle flat card invitations mounted on a backing, envelopes with return address, 100 rsvp cards, rsvp envelopes. The invitations are one color and the backing is another color. There are five crystals on each invite. Thermographic ink.
Is this price outrageous???

Unfortunately, no, not really. Is probably the crystals and the backing. See if they'll work with you and change the card stock or have them ditch the crystals and do them yourself for much cheaper.

Holy moly, I had no idea it would cost that much. I thought my idea was simple!!! Is it hard to do the crystals? I don't want to pay for the invitations and then mess them up.

This. If u get custom it will always cost more. Anything you add like crystals, layers of paper, or broaches jack up the price. I love custom invites so I went with those even though they are more than I wanted to spend. But I love them.

I am paying a little over $500 for 90 layered invites, RSVP card, hotel insert and reception card insert. That also includes all my addressing on the enveloped including return addresses. But it isn't thermographic.
Mine were custom made as well.

Its not an outrageous price if invites are important to you. i did not want to splurge on invitations, we are paying for everything ourselves so this was def a place i was willing to go cheaper on. I just went with something simple and elegant and paid $550 for 150 invites addressed, response cards, inner envelopes,and reception cards. IMO even the nicest invites end up in the trash, unfortunately very few ppl save them these days.

If you have time, I would definitely recommend adding the crystals yourself. Go to Michaels and see what's available. Sometimes paring for time is my expensive than materials. Also, stuff the envelopes yourself to also save some money.

Wow I paid 190.00 for 100 flat invitations,inner envelope, outer envelope with color, reception card, response card, response envelope with our return address plus my invitation was two different colors and had icons on it. I personally would never pay that much money for a piece of paper that goes in the garbage but that's just me. I would forget about the crystals and just get them at Micheal's and do them yourself. I got mine at Invitations by Dawn.

i dont know what thermographic means...
without the crystals and that you could get them for $300 from my etsy seller with background.
she charges a bit more for ribbon, but maybe she will do crystal
i've gotten a sample only from her so far.

Wow that is high! Why don't you do the crystals yourself? I am ordering mine from Europe- the most expensive invitation there is priced at the cheapest here. It's like throwing $$ in the trash literally I could care less I just want it to look decent and I'm planning to add crystals myself.

It is from Invitations by Emily on etsy...I got a sample in the mail and haven't had a chance to upload pics. It looks very similar to the pocketfolds in her pictures on etsy - just in different colors.

Quality I thought was great! I showed a few family members for opinions and everyone liked it. It is a regular heavy cardstock (she orders materials off of cardsandpockets and creates the invites). Super easy to work with!

Even things that will visually look simple add up depending on how you do them. Mine ended up being expensive because of the layers... If you did regular printing instead of thermography, a border instead of layer, no crystals... it would look very similar but be significantly cheaper. Depends on what's important to you.
