Invitation??? Raised lettering......

Invitation??? Raised lettering......

.....I want to do them myself. I have found some great materials to mock some 'pocket' type invites I had seen that were really expensive to order. The only thing missing is the the 'raised quality'. Will people really notice.....I do not think I have ever really looked for it. I do not want to give the impression that I am not having a formal wedding. Thanks!

have you ever heard of heat embossing? i did it for my invitations, but not for the wording part, although i thought about it but rather for a rose emblem. anyway, you can have a stamp made up with the wording and font that you like and then what you do it stamp the image on the paper using embossing ink, sprinkle the embossing powder in whatever color you like and then using an embossing tool (for heat), you will have the raised image. the powder will cost you about 4 dollars, the ink about 2 dollars, the tool can be anywhere from 12 to 20 and the stamp could be anywhere fro 15 to 30. there is a store in huntington village called the moon rose that made a stamp for me. anyway, it is time consuming but it is the only way i could think of.

Interesting.....I did not know they had that. It might be too much since I would need to get a stamp for the invite, reception and response card. But it would be great for some detail work like you did. I will have to look into it. Thanks!

Funny, I was going to post about this today. I was looking for a place that makes stamps. I was just hoping to get a monogram and use them on various projects for the wedding.

i don't think so... they better not because i am doing the same thing as well

i think what matters is the overall presentation. clean, simple, elegant i believe will do the trick. also, the wording can make a difference. my parents are more informal in the way they address themselves (they are never Dr. & Mrs. or Mr. & Mrs., they are first name last name) and actually wanted that type of wording on the invitation. i protested for a few reasons. one, FH's parents always use Mr. & Mrs., so it should be consistent. and two, i felt if we dropped the formality on the invites it would give the impression of a less formal affair...jmo...

This is one of the reasons I used vellum overlays - you *can't* do themography on vellum, no matter who makes it, so there's no real difference. I just also really loved my invites.

But I don't think it matters.

Me too!! Mine are on a vellum overlay and are inserted into a pochette. So we couldn't have raised lettering. I love my invites.

One if my BM did something like this - She purchased the paper & supplies for the pocket (a design she saw on MyGatsby.com). She cut & sized them around invitation pieces she had printed at Carlson Craft. This way she had raised lettering. Just make sure you use a flat card with no raides edges or blind embossing or it won't lat flat or adhere well.

These were her invitations & she had a nice navy stock for the pocket with a white double faced satin ribbon around the front. I think she used a professional spray mount of some sort though - she didn't want the invite to fall of the backing & she was told at Pearl Art that some glues can damage the invitation & others weren't strong enough to keep it mounted permanently. Glue was her hardest thing to find but Pearl Art was a great help. Always test anything you put on your invites – one of the glues turned the edges black b/c of the chemicals! Good luck with it!!!!!
