Invitation reception card

My invitation is pretty big. Initially I wanted a separate reception card, but now that I see the proof- i think it would look absolutely fine, if not better with the reception info on the actual invitation. There's a lot of empty space without it.

Who's having a separate reception card, and do you think it's necessary? My sisters seem to think I 'have to' have it.

Thoughts?

Invitation reception card - Long Island Weddings

i did all my info on the actual invitation. I think it's such a waste of paper having it separate.

I didn't have a separate reception card. I don't think it's necessary, and if you have extra room on the invite, you can just include it there. I'm not inviting anyone to the ceremony who I am not inviting to the reception so I see no point in the extra piece of paper.

Just for clarification, I think that each person has their own opinions, and while you can have a difference of opinions, I think that we all need to be careful how we word things.

I put it all on one invite! I don't see a need for a seperate card, I think it's fine either way :)

Invitation reception card - Long Island Weddings

I actually hadn't even thought this far, but I'm thinking I won't need a reception card since we're getting married at the venue. I think 'reception to follow' will do. If you have the room, throw it on there.

This! I've seen plenty of people do it like this too, so I don't necessarily think its a big deal. If you have the room, why not. Our invitations our huge and we included it on there, especially since all the extra space made it look weird.

Invitation reception card - Long Island Weddings

I have a separate reception card but I definitely don't see an issue with including it on the invite if there's sufficient room!

it's supposed to be separate- because the formal invite should be for the ceremony since that is the actual WEDDING! The ceremony is the most important part of the entire wedding day and should be separate from the reception. The reception card is supposed to represent a separate party to complement the ceremony. But LI weddings has turned into this huge deal and the reception has become so much more important than the actual exchange of vows! haha

also, some people send invites out with no reception card, just inviting some people to the church only. Then, you put the reception cards in the invites that you want to send to everyone else that you want invited to everything

you're on this site too aren't you?

I think we need to be careful not to tell people what is right and wrong because it's 2014 and there is no right or wrong anymore! I'm pretty sure not all the brides are virgins wearing pure white and not all the biological fathers are walking us down the aisle. should those brides not get married because it's not the 'right' way to do things? a lot has changed since 1950 and I'm pretty sure that despite there being a 'traditional' way of doing things, anyway is fine if it makes the couple happy. I think all the information together is fine! whichever way you are comfortable is what you should do. and that goes for everything in the wedding and in life.

what i wrote in the beginning got totally taken out of context. When i said it's supposed to be that way because the ceremony is the most important and blah blah blah i was restating what invitation etiquette says, not how i personally feel. and when i said LI weddings have become such huge ordeals, i didn't mean liweddings.com has become a huge deal, i meant weddings on long island are such big events now, and meant that in a joking tone, lol... i apologize so i deleted the comment. sorry about that everyone..

Mine is included on my invite since I am getting married at same location.. it was one thing less to pay for and made the most sense.

Invitation reception card - Long Island Weddings

I not doing a reception card because our ceremony is at our reception location. But I just got my friends invite for her wedding in April. She put both the church info and reception info on the main invite and it looks fine. The only additional card I'm doing is for accommodations. I'm using the direction card the venue provides and then obviously the RSVP stuff.
