invitation reply-annoyed
I have a question. my response cards sayaccepts with pleasure or
declines with regret
We got a response today (sorry matt but I needed to vent) and the person who sent wrote in their names and then checked where it said accepts with pleasure. The annoying part is that she crossed out the 's' after accept. The person who did my invites said that is how you word it (with the 's' I mean)
I thought it was very rude that she 'corrected' the grammer. Even if I thought it was wrong I would never correct it and send it back to the bride and groom. Now I feel like she thinks I am dumb. Anyone have thoughts?

You're not dumb. Obviously you checked the grammar before you mailed the invites. Someone is trying to make you think they are smarter than you. I think it's kinda rude. I would never do that. Even if it was wrong. I wouldn't worry if I were you. You have lots more to worry about.

The whole thing about accepts or accept is about agreeing in number. Since a majority of the people at your wedding will be someone and guest it would be two people so they would 'Mr and Mrs. x accepts with pleasure.' Feel strong in your decision on the card! The person may think they are smarter than you but they clearly show that maybe they can use some lessons in class. I personally think its rude, but that is me so please don't get offended by my statement.PS I graduated with a Degree in English so I am about 99.9999999999999999999999% I am right here.

Re: invitation reply-annoyed
Jen,I stayed up till two in the morning stuffing mine & I realized that I gave a couple of people 2 reception cards instead of response cards!!!!!!!!
I had a meltdown at first, but now I think it's sorta funny-I got one back, she wrote a cute note.
But in your case I'd be pissed at your 'guest'-I would triple check her card for errors & maybe even re-use the wording from your rsvp in your thank you if possible. (but I'm sorta *****y like that
) Seriously, just feel bad for her-she has nothing better to do.

I just did some searches for this and 'accepts with pleasure' is correct.
