I know this may seem like a small thing, but I'm not sure what I should do: From what I understand, the traditional return address on the invitation envelope is the bride's parents' address. In my case, both sets of parents are paying...my mom has subtely mentioned that it would mean a lot to her if we put my parents' return address on the invite. I also don't want to offend the future in-laws, who have been really generous and supportive. We're a dramatic jewish bunch, so I don't want to bring it up with the in-laws and make a big thing about it, because then it'll just escalate into a bigger 'thing.' I'm thinking I'll just go ahead and use my parents' address. I know it seems like something small, but I just don't want to offend, and I also want my parents to have the honor. What do you guys think?

Just put your parents. If it comes up, tell them it's tradition, and you didn't think it would be a big deal.
As long as both parents are on the invites, I doubt anyone will say anything!

Re: Invitation Return Address: Need Advice
Thanks for the advice. The reply cards are going to where I live with FH, the debate is just over the return address on the invite envelope itself. I think my mom got this idea because my cousin (getting married in two weeks) used her mom's address for the return address on hers. I guess she kind of set the precedent.

I agree... I want to receive the RSVPs! If I put my parents' address, I will constantly be running back and forth to their house to find out who's coming!!
** Sorry I misunderstood... I was talking about the reply cards.** But I still think it shouldn't be a big deal what return address you use. My parents are paying for my wedding but this wouldn't even occur to them!

I actually put my parents address for everything. I'm going to be a HUGE PITA calling her every day and asking her who replied. LMAO.
She's going to have to not only check them off on the list, but put the date, so she can keep up with me!

Why not hyphenate the names on the return address...

If the in laws get really upset, I would half jokingly suggest to do half and half lol.
But I can't see them getting too worked up over it, both names will be on the invite!

The more I think about this the more sense it is making! Whoever is 'hosting' the wedding (i.e. Mr. & Mrs. So-and-So request the honor of your presence...) should be the return addressee. If both sets of parents are hosting, then I think it should default to the bride's parents' address. If the couple is hosting/paying themselves, then they should use their own address.

Re: Invitation Return Address: Need Advice
yikes i never thought of this. me & FH are paying for most of the wedding.. both my parents & his mom are helping. Originally, i was going to put 'togehter with our parents'.. but after thinking about how old fashioned my mother is i decided to put the names down.
now this is where i draw the line with the responses. my parents are up there in age & are constantly misplacing things so i am putting my address.. this is one thing i want to control.
thanks for bringing this up...

Re: Invitation Return Address: Need Advice
I would have it sent to your parents house, or even yours if you dont live there. You are going to be the one keeping track of yes and no's im sure none of them even your FH is going to want to deal with that.
but traditionally i think its the brides parents

Re: Invitation Return Address: Need Advice
I didn't even consider this....i just put our address as the reply....just because i'd want to know if an invite gets returned for whatever reason (and one of mine was returned).

I would trust your instincts, and put your parents address if you think it will make them happy. I also just wanted to say hi! I'm a fellow Thatched Cottage bride, with a big Jewish family too! Are you having the shrimp wrapped in bacon??? That is our big question!

If you have to go with a parent, use yours. Otherwise just have it sent to you this way no one will be offended.
