Invitation Thread

I figure that pretty soon we will all be getting out invitations. So we are all going to be thinking about how to stuff them, and making our last final changes to the guest list, as well as figuring out what to write on outer and what to put on inner and stuff (you get the idea) so we should start its own little thread. We can also post pics here when we receive the invites.

So first question: I have finalized my guest list and now I just need to figure out what to write on the outer and what to put on the inner. Is there one strict rule on this or can it be done multiple ways? If there are multiple ways, what way are you doing it?

My input

Outer envelope is Mr. and Mrs. James Smith, and I wanted to put the same on the inner and FH wants to use both their names.

I think I'll do it this way. FOR:

Couples:
'Mr. and Mrs. XXX' on the outside and 'Liz and Len XXX' on the inside

Singles w/guests:
'Ms. Liz XXX' on the outside and 'Liz XXX and guest' on the inside

I dont think there is a rule, but if there is I dont even care, I'm doing it MY way

You know what I just remembered, b/c my invitations are 'gift-wrapped' there is NO inside envelope
I just thought about that for nothing

So I will change that to
IF I had inside envelopes, that how I WOULD address them

Sure, I copied your link, then in my reply click (on the lower left hand underneat the EMOTs) 'Insert Link', then it will ask you for a title, put whatever you want, then OK then another one will come up asking for the link and you just paste it in.

Here's a question I hope you can all help me with.

How are advising your guests of hotel and any weekend event information? Are you putting it in the invitation? If so, how will you be preparing/printing this? If not, do you send it out afterward they have sent back their RSVP?

I'm putting the hotel reservation cards in the invites. The hotel you block rooms with should provide these at no cost. I'm also advising out of towner a bit early about the hotels....so as to make it easier for them to book!

I am not looking forward to doing invitations AGAIN. It's something you figure you only have to do once and boy are you glad when it's done. Oh well

the Windsor just sent me the cards, the reservation cards + direction cards. I'm not sending it w/the invitation b/c I'm so nutty I dont want to ruin the 'look' of it. Instead, I'll send it separately w/some other info, like a cute newsletter.

Plus the info will be on the website, which I told them the name of that on the Save the Date.

Lizlen - Since I am not sending a save the day (just not enough time) how do you think I can get the word out about the hotel rooms? I actually have blocks at three hotels.

(I know this sounds strange, no forist, band or photographer yet - but I have hotel rooms - I'm a meeting planner so that was the easy part for me!).

Did your hotels give you the cards? You don't want to insert them in the invitation?

Why don't you send out a newsletter giving all the hotel info and directions?

regarding the hotels we made an extra card with nformation regarding the hotel.
We actually are only going to put it into the invitations for people who are from out of town.
Most of our guests are from Long Island.

I know that the Marriot gives you cards but Ifelt that it didn;t go with the invite.

I have another question... how long did it take for your invites to come in? I still haven't ordered mine (another item on my long list).
also...they need to be mailed in march ?!?! right?!?! i'm so behind!!!

Browneyes, yes, , I think we're all sending them out in March. They shouldnt take that long to come in, depending on where you order them. But you need to get on it now, at least decide which ones you want. It took me months to find the one I liked
