Invitation Timing

Hi girls!!!!! I need your help plssss
I designed my own invitations. My Wedding will be starting at 7:00 pm. I want to put down 6:45 on the invitations.
What is the proper way to put it down.
Three quoters past six o'clock in the evening
or
six fourty five in the evening

Re: Invitation Timing

I believe 'six forty-five in the evening' is the proper way to go.

Re: Invitation Timing

I am pretty sure you can do it either way.

I personally like six fourty five in the evening.

Re: Invitation Timing

i did 5:30 for 6 pm ceremony (half past five)

what about doing a quarter of seven for 6:45? or do you think that would be too confusing?

Yeah I think it would be a lil confusing.... I think it sounds nice
six fourty five in the evening

I would write it either Six Forty-Five in the evening
or
A Quarter of Seven in the evening

Both are acceptable

I'm not sure, but I think it is spelled 'forty' (not fourty). Just be careful or check before you print

Thre Quarters passed six oclock inthe evening is the proper way.
It depends on how elequent you are doing the invites though.

I have 3:15 as my start time and it reads a quarter past three o clock.

The invitation lady worded it and then I approved it.

It's DEFINITELY forty and not fourty. That's one of the most common mispelled number words.

Re: Invitation Timing

Crane's Wedding Blue Book has been my Bible throughout the invitation process and you can access it online. Here is an excerpt re: timing:

I'm being married at 6:45. How should this be read?

The correct wording for 6:45 is 'at three quarters after six o'clock.' Although correct, the wording may appear awkward to many people, so it might be a good idea to change the time of your wedding to six-thirty or seven o'clock.

ETA: I do not think it's worth changing the time of your wedding, for the record!! Etiquette can be so crazy!

well our wedding starts at 7:00pm, but I want to give my guests 15 minutes, thats why I am putting down 15 minutes earlier.
