We spent over 2 hours going through at least 30 different invite books and I left without ONE that I liked or even remotely considered
they all looked alike....do all the companies get together and say they will make every single invite look alike
oh and for those who do use colors or prints....well they are so informal of an invite that i cant possibly use it cause were having a formal wedding
Im so angry and frustrated right now i cant speak

i had the same experience. i hated every single invite i looked at - seriously. i thought there was something wrong with me. i ended up going with something a little different - i'm having a calligrapher write my invitation by hand, and then print her calligraphy onto my invitation paper. then she is putting a custom hand design on each one, as well as hand-calligraphing my envelopes. i ended up spending a little more than i wanted, but i'm also getting what i was picturing.
what kind of invite were you picturing?

i was hoping to find one that have color...like rich reds and golds but the only ones with color are very modern and bold.....i still want traditional with elegant borders but in color
im so sick of the choice of white, off white, eggshell, or ecru!!!! THATS THE SAME COLOR !!!!
Maybe this is my cue to start my own company and take over the wedding business world

I wanted the colors you want, and couldn't fnd anything. So, I made my own. Some pictures below. It's only a prototype, but it's close to what I want the finished product to look like. It's hard to tell what the colors really look like, but they're burgundy and gold.
I'm going through the same thing right now. I can't find anything and I want something with some fall colors. I thought this was gonig to be the easiest part and it's turning out to be so difficult! I have an appt with LA Productions next week so I'm hoping that will turn out to be a better experience than what I've been having. She supposedly carries more unique invites.

THOSE ARE BEAUTIFUL!!! How many people are you having at your wedding? I would never have the time to make my own invites. How long did it take you to make? Last question,can you approximate how much you think its going to cost you per invite?

Thanks for the compliments!!! I won't lie.. doing these invites has taken a TON of time. Mostly because I'm a research freak and spent countless hours pricing paper, trying to find the right colors, the best deal etc... I'm a little insane that way.
We're going to need about 135 invitation sets, so I'll be employing the help of my family and FH to cut all the paper and adhere everything together. I'm still not sure if I'm going to print them, or send them to a printer. Still pricing that out. Hence, I don't have an exact cost per invite yet. I'll let you know when I do though. I will say this, it's by no means saving us ALOT of money But it is saving a little bit, and in the end we get exactly what we want!

I used an Australian company and was pleased with the results. They have very creative looking designs and you can design your own with their help. You have to be willing to view the proofs online (they'll create a special website for you). Check out: www.momentsofcolor.com

I feel your pain! I think you need to get away from the traditional invitation vendor and start looking into more custom stuff, that is what i ended up doing. Check out this designer - she is very reasonalby priced and will make you whatever you want, I am loving designing my invites with her right now!

I completely understand!!!!! Did you check Jean M. I know they are on the expensive side, but you get to design your own invite and choose the colors. She was my savior.
