Originally we were going to have only kids 16+ years old but realized we'd be cutting families in half and cutting out kids we really like. So we are thinking of just inviting the families but hoping that little kids won't come? Is this a realistic hope? We think that a wedding and our RH are really not meant for little kids to be running around at. Is there a way that we can put 'children not recommended' or something of the sort on the invite? Your help is appreciated!

Re: Invitation wording....
I think it's easier to just not invite them. Most people will understand.

You mean to just put Mr & Mrs for the ones that we don't want to bring kids? and & family when we want them?

Re: Invitation wording....
Be careful with 'and family'... lol, some people don't get what that means (you don't want them bringing any MORE people than you mean).
It's easier to just invite those that you WANT to bring their kids with them...
So if you're inviting the kids, you'd put on the outside envelope:
Mr. & Mrs. John Smith Address City, State Zip
and on the inside envelope you'd put:
Mr. & Mrs. John Smith Miss Jane Smith Master Robert Smith
If you're NOT inviting the kids, just leave their name(s) off on the inside envelope.
And if you only have outer envelopes, put all the names on the outside envelope. HTH!

Re: Invitation wording....
I have seen people use 'Adult Reception' on their reception cards. Either in the lower right hand corner in smaller font. Or in the verbage.
Adult Reception to follow.....

That can get sticky though only because not everyone looks at the inside envelope. I would suggest just not putting any children, most will get the hint or ask you.

Re: Invitation wording....
Also, I was told that children over the age of 16 should receive their own invitation. Or....This is what I did:
If you do inside and outside envelopes, you can address the outside to
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
and on the inside include their first names;
Aunt Joan, Uncle Edward and Samantha
