Invitation Wording

Invitation Wording

I know a lot of us are struggling with invitation wording. I just saw a feature on this in Brides magazine, and thought I'd post...

When Bride's parents are hosting:

'Mr. and Mrs. Jones
request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter
Karen Nicole
to
Anthony Peter Smith'

When Divorced Parents Send A Joint Invitation:

'Mary Jones (or Mrs. Bob Smith, if remarried)
and
John Doe
request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter
Karen Nicole
to
Anthony Peter Smith'

When the Bride and Groom are Hosting:

'The honor of your presence is requested at the marriage of
Miss Karen Nicole Doe
and
Mr. Anthony Peter Smith

When Both Bride's and Groom's Parents are Hosting:

'Mr and Mrs. John Doe
and
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Smith
request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their children
Karen Nicole
and
Anthony Peter'

When a Widow Hosts:

'Mrs. John Doe
requests the honor of your presence at the marriage of her daughter
Karen Nicole
to
Anthony Peter Smith'

When Both Sets of Parents Are Included But Not Hosting:

'Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter
Karen Nicole
to
Anthony Peter Smith
son of
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Smith'

When The Bride's Mother Has Remarried and She and Her Husband Are Hosting:

'Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
request the honor of your presence at the marriage of
Mrs. Doe's daughter
Karen Nicole Jones
to
Anthony Peter Smith'

When The Bride Uses Her Ex-Husband's Last Name:

'Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Kelly Ann Ryan
to
Anthony Peter Smith'

I think I'd go with the divorced parents sending a joint invitation, since together the parents are paying for the majority.

If you don't like that, then I'd say your idea is the next best thing.

Yea, I guess I have to ask my parents. Also, we are in our 30s - I am 33 he is 37, so it isn't like we are kids either - I don't know if that matters.

I didn't go with any of those options because none of them suited me or my situation. We just wrote 'Together with their parents, Lisa.... and Joe.... invite you to share in the joy of their marriage on 9.8.07, etc...'
