Invitation Wording

Invitation Wording

So I have a couple issues with how to word the invites. My parents will be paying for about 1/3 of the wedding. His dad will be giving us nothing. By the accounts of my future sister-in-laws, I should not even expect a present!!! Ridiculous, but nothing I can really do I guess. Anyway, his mom passed away about 10 years ago, so I have no idea how to word the invites.

I saw on an old post something like:
Mr. & Mrs. (my parents) request the honour of your presence at the wedding of their daughter
me
to
FH
son of his parents

but then do I list his mom? His dad isn't remarried but has had the same girlfriend for about as long as his mom has been gone. She is not going on the invite, but I don't want to upset anyone and have to deal with that crap (because they will bring it up).

Sorry for the long post. Any help would be great!

Re: Invitation Wording

If his mom has past u can do everything the same but honor her at the end.

example:

Mr. & Mrs. (your parents) request the honour of your presence at the wedding of their daughter
me
to
FH
son of (father's name) and the late (mother's name).

If the father isn't paying, he doesnt' need to be acknowledge on the invitation generally. Only hosts of the wedding are usually included.

I totally agree with this! It's the tradiational wording for wedding invitations. Although, be careful... like you said, you may catch some heat for it. I did!!

I don't like using the word 'late' on the invite..you could use beloved instead. Just a thought.

DH's mom is deceased and his dad is remarried but we didn't mention his mom..we just said
'Mr & Mrs John Smith'. Dh thought it was morbid to mention his mom. This way we didn't include or not include her....it was kind of ambiguous..

we just did together with their families....

we didnt want to do together with their parents because our parents aren't paying for the wedding and they arent contributing towards it - we are hosting - but we didnt want the invitation to not mention them at all - so we did together with their families....i dont know, i just liked the way it sounded....

My FH dad passed two years ago and his mom wants the late so and so on the invite. I have read on another website that it is not proper to write the late so and so because they are not alive to be able to invite you to the wedding and they should be honored in some other way.

I plan on having pictures of his dad on the piano when you walk into the mansion and our favor will be a donation to the foundation of the disease that killed him... I just hope I can get out of having his name on the invitation.

My parents are helping us pay for the wedding, but we're not sure yet if his dad/stepmom are contributing (we think they might). But FH's mom passed away a few years ago...how would we do the wording for that? Does everyone get included? I feel like that might be a bit much...thoughts?
