Invitation Wording...

Invitation Wording...

How did you word your invites????

Does this sound right to everyone??

Gina Marie
and
Randall Matthew
request the honour of your presence
at their marriage
on Saturday, the Second of October
Two thousand and ten
at eleven in the morning.

The Woodlands
1 South Wood Road
Woodbury, NY

My next question is, if I wanted to add 'Together with their parents' (they're not paying but we talked about it and think it is nice to include them) would it go before our names or after??

Or just leave it out?? We're two old people paying for our own wedding... My parents are helping a little... but since his parents aren't doing anything do I be the bigger person and just leave it in there? I feel like if I take it out it will come across as me trying to make a point to FILs but just hurt my parents feelings in the meantime... Just with the grief FMIL has given me I hate giving credit when credit isn't due...

Re: Invitation Wording...

i always view including parents names as a way of honoring them for raising you and everything and not necessarily who'spaying for the wedding, jmo

im looking at an invite i received and it says:

Jack & Jill
together with their families
Mr & Mrs. X
&
Mr & Mrs Y
joyfully request the honour of your presences at their marriage
date
time
place

We are including together with their parents but not listing the parent names.. my parents are divorced, his mother passed away, and his dad is remarried..... that is way too much for use to put on an invitation lol

you could do it either way cause i have an invitation here and it says
Together w/ their parents
xxxxx xxxx
and
xxxxx
request the honour of your presence

Etiquette states that if you are getting married outside of a place of worship that you should write

'request the pleasure of your company'
instead of
'honour of your presence'

Not sure if you care about that tho!

Yeah... I know but I feel like pleasure of your company sounds so informal... is there another way of saying it?

I think saying:
'Together with their parents
Gina
and
Randall'
implies that the parents are helping to pay for the wedding.

You could do the following but don't know how clean it will look:
'Gina
Daughter of XX and XX
and
Randall
Son of XX'

ITA... although I do understand how most ppl view it as paying for a portion of the wedding. I think its a respect thing.

We are including our parents even though they are only helping a small amount. we are paying for the majority of the wedding. our parents are a huge part of our lives they just cant afford to pay for the entire thing for us. When i got my sample it said

' together with their parents'.....on the very top of the invite above our names

I am using together with their parents - they aren't paying - it only implies that they are if you state their names
