Invitation wording for deceased parent?

So, my parents are hosting the wedding and we are putting son of blblalbla.
But, when I just put his mothers name because his dad is passed he said that he wanted his fathers name end of disussion. So, I did write 'son of the late....' should I

First Middle Last
son of Sharon and the late Richard Heinze or something?

I think that sounds perfect

I think that is fine if his mom is not remarried. If she is, you should probably list her new last name like:

Son of Mary Smith and the late Robert White

You put in parentheses the prefix of the deceased parent. So it would say son of:
(Mr. )& Mrs. Doe

That is what my sister did. It looked nice on the invite. I think this is the best way to do it. JMO

Re: Invitation wording for deceased parent?

I am very sensitive about this topic. I'm actually taking a break from stuffing envelopes right now. I do not think it is necessary to write 'the late'. My father very recently passed away. I cannot refer to him as the late ________. He will always be my dad, he will always be Robert ________, deceased or not. I think writing 'the late' just sounds weird -- anyone who knows us, knows.
FH lost his mom 15 years ago.
Both my mom and FH's dad are contributing a lot to the wedding.
We thought about it a lot. Our wording is:
The honor of your presence is requested
at the wedding of
Shari (middle name) (last name) (in a large font)
daughter of Mom and Dad's first names (smaller font)
to
Matthew (middle name) (last name)
son of
Mom and Dad's first names

My sister told me she loved it. Neither FH or I could imagine not having both our parents names on the invitations.

I hope that helps!

Thank you. I'm sorry if I offended you by not caring for the wording 'the late' -- the thought of remarriage never entered my mind. In that case, it does make sense.

I think FH feels that is still his dad and I think I do not want to write 'the late' because he says it is still his dad no matter what. I think most ppl there know that he is passed.

FH mother is not alive so we put
'Son of Mr. & Mrs. L & A ____'. We didnt like 'the late' and he wanted his moms name on there. We didnt care what other people thought, it was our decision.

I was wondering how to handle this also..FH and I want to include our parents on the Invite and Fh's father passed away 10 years ago. He's the only one that his father didn't get to see be married.

Thank you Ms.Potterhead...i love how you handled the wording.
