Ok.. Heres the situation. My father passed away 11 years ago. My mother INSISTS that his name has to be listed on the invitations. Im not sure why.. but whatever.
It seems the only real option is:
Kristy Elizabeth Daughter of.. blah blah b lah
I hate the way that looks.
My invitation lady (although she doesnt think we should list him) suggested this:
Kristy Elizabeth V..... and Nicholas John F.... with the blessings of their parents, Mrs. Carol Vxxxxxx and the late Mr. Douglas Vxxxxxxxx and Mr. and Mrs. John Fxxxxx
Is there another option??
I suggested our names.. and children of .. but she didnt seem to think it worked.
I cant be the ONLY person to have this issue!
Help!

Re: Invitation Wording... Going CRAZY!
My FH mom's just passed away in Jan...He wanted her listed and given the honor on the invite as she will always be his mom.... We did list her as the late _______. Discuss it with mom...She probably wants your dad to have the honor.

Re: Invitation Wording... Going CRAZY!
i am not sure who is financing the wedding but we are paying ourselves so we get to say what goes on our invites... my FH father passed away no parents names are going on the invites and his father will be honored with a memorial candle at the ceremony.
i dont know if a memorial or maybe something special on the program (if you were considering doing one is an viable option that may work)

Re: Invitation Wording... Going CRAZY!
Sorry I can't really help with advice but I think the way your invitation lady suggested sounds really nice, that way your dad can be on the invite, and everyone is mentioned. It sounds respectful and classy!

Re: Invitation Wording... Going CRAZY!
FH's dad passed away 10 years and the way we did it was
Dino Michelli son of Mrs. Nicolo Michelli
so we have his father's name on the invitation.
So could you do:
Mrs. Father's name Last Name requests the honor...

Re: Invitation Wording... Going CRAZY!
The second sounds nicer at first but the I think how does a late parent give their blessing? It just sounds strange. It sounds just as strange to say 'Mrs and late Mr so&so request the honor of your presence at the wedding of their daughter' for the same reason. You could do 'the honor of your presence is requested at the marriage of bride, daughter of Mrs and late Mr'. Maybe you could convince your mother that putting him on the invitation isn't working and have him written in the program.
