Invitation wording help!!!!!!

Ok girls...FH wants his parents name on the invitation...They have not offered to help or contribute any money...My parents are paying for the bulk of the wedding so out of respect for them, I think only their names should appear on the invitation...Am I wrong thinking this way?

Re: Invitation wording help!!!!!!

no, not at all - but i am sure some of his family is invited so the best way to do that would be:

Mr & Mrs. John Smith
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter

Jane Smith
to
Micheal Joseph Jones

son of
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Jones

This way your parents are doing the inviting and they are just being listed as his parents.

HTH!

You are not wrong at all for thinking that, but i think to avoid a major conflict, you might want to consider putting their names on it too. It may not be worth the arguing.

I don't think you are wrong at all. I agree if you want to avoid conflict you can write 'son of...' after his name. I am in the same situation and decided to just put my parents name on the invite. But you can do whatever you want!!!

Re: Invitation wording help!!!!!!

This was my wording:

'Two lives, two hearts
joined together in friendship
united forever in love...
Mr. & Mrs. (my parents)
invite you with joy to be present
at the ceremony uniting their daughter
(me)
and
(FH)
son of
Mr. (FH's dad) and Ms. (FH's mom)
on Saturday, the thirtieth of July
Two thousand and five
(Church name)
(Church City and State)

FH's family isn't helping one bit. But it wouldn't seem right somehow if I included my parent's names and not theirs in any way.

Re: Invitation wording help!!!!!!

i put my parents and his parents on it. My parents are contributing and his parents aren't but we all thought it would be respectful to have them all on it. I spoke to my mom and she thought it was a good idea to put them on and his mom said it was up to us since she isn't contributing. she didn't mind be on it but it was our choice.

So we put
Mr. and Mrs. L P
request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter
Nicole K P
to
Scott M O
son of Mr. and Mrs. J O

So that is basically how mine looks
