Invitation Wording Help

Invitation Wording Help

FMIL is very traditional and is up on her etiquette. I am beginning to work on the invitations and need helpw ith wording. FILs are paying for most of the wedding. My dad gave us a payment toward the RH and is sending us on our HM. He also offered to pay for the RD but FILs said no. My mom can't afford to give us anything (my parents are divorced and my mom lives in Florida - not really in my life asides from phone calls every couple of weeks). Sooo, how do I word the invitations without offending anyone. My dad has already brought this up because he doesn't want anyone to think he didn't help us and FMIL brought it up by saying on FBILs engagemen t party invitations, their names were listed since they hosted the party.

Should I:
1. Use FILs names only (Mr. and Mrs. XXX request the honor of your presence at the marriage of Jennifer Ann to their son Jonathan Ryan....)
2. Use both sets of parents names (Mr. XXX and Mrs. XXX and Mr. and Mrs. XXX request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their children...)
3. Do the together witht heir parents thing
4. Other (Please make suggestions. I need a lot of help on this!)

Thanks girls!!!

I voted other.

Since your FIL are technically paying/hosting the wedding, but your dad is helping, I suggest the following (but you'd have to be ok with putting your mom's name too - I can't figure out how to put your dad's name but not your mom's without offending her).

Mr. & Mrs. FH's parents
request the honour of your presence
(or 'pleasure of your company' if not at a church/temple)
at the marriage of

Bride's name,
daughter of YOUR PARENTS NAMES

to (or 'and') their son

Your Fh's name

Re: Invitation Wording Help

Well, nowadays b/c the bride and the groom pay some, FIL's pay some and the parents of the bride pay some (so, basically everyone helps out) it makes it very difficult to try and decide how to word the invite based on money and money only.

So, that being said, we did:

Together with their parents

ME

and

Vin

Request the honour...... blabbity-blah.....

Check out my album for pics.

I was NOT going to put both sets of parent's names at the top b/c then it would have to say 'requests the honour of your presence at the marriage of their CHILDREN' and that word children bothered me b/c I'm not a child and I just hated that... So, we did that instead.

So, I vote for three

this was going to be my suggestion too, its the best way to incorp both sets of parents. usually the first listed are technically the ones hosting. i think its really nice to include your parents too.

I agree. You are paying respect to your FIL's, while at the same time your acknowledging your father's help. It seems to be the best option with out offending anyone.
