Re: Invitation wording!! Need help!!

We are paying for most of the wedding but are including our parents names on the invitation. We are going to be using this

Love was meant to be shared
with parents, family and friends
BRIDE and GROOM
have found love in each other
Because you have shared in their lives
by your friendship and love
we invite you to celebrate with us
the marriage of our children
on DAY
YEAR
at TIME
LOCATION
ADDRESS
CITY, STATE

BRIDE'S PARENTS
GROOM'S PARENTS

I love the way you have it written better!

FI parents are not contributing towards the wedding. However his mom is paying for half of the shower and father is paying for the rehearsal dinner.

Would it look wrong to have only my parents and not his??

I always thought you put the people who are paying towards the wedding??

My FI's parents are only paying for the RD and I am putting their names on the invitates because I do not want anything said about my parents name only being on the invitates.

I am doing together with ther parents,
Bride and Groom cordially .........

My parents are giving us money and my FIL are paying for RD, and we are paying for the most of it, so I opted to leave their names out, but to add together with their paretns, so we are kind of honoring them.

Our parents are paying half and we are paying the other half. Our invitations will say 'Together with their parents...'

Re: Invitation wording!! Need help!!

My Fiance and me are basically paying for the whole wedding. My mother bought my dress and his parents paid for the band.

We did it this way:
Because you have shared in our lives
with your friendship and love

Bride
and
Groom
together with our parents
Brides Mom
and
Grooms Parents
have great pleasure in inviting
Guest (we are doing scrolls so we personalized)
to share in the joy of our marriage
Date
Time
Location
Etc.

Re: Invitation wording!! Need help!!

I am so glad I posted this question, because I wasn't going to include his partents..

OH NO!! I forgot to mention, his parents are divorced! The mom has not technacall remarried, but his father has!

I would assume I can still keep the following:

along with our parents and not have to list them separately???? Ahh!!

Re: Invitation wording!! Need help!!

i like these wordings- i'll be using something similar - but i feel weird about beginning an invitation (esp since it is a formal wedding) by starting out with the word 'because'

is 'since' not a better substitute? or am i just putting too much consideration on what my 4th grade teacher had said??

I am having a formal wedding also, and to be honest I never thought that the word because would be an issue. Hmm - you got me thinking now.... The reason why we chose this is because we wanted the people who were invited to feel special that they were getting invited. I think since can be an OK alternative. In my opinion though, I think because flows smoothly - whether or not gramatically correct.
I'm looking at it like this:
You are asked to be present at the most wonderful day of our lives BECAUSE you are special, not SINCE you are special. Anybody following me?

I used similar wording. I don't like how 'since' sounds.

I think you should just put 'together with our parents' to avoid any controversy.

Re: Invitation wording!! Need help!!

Girls, think of it as poetry where there are no rules for grammar or punctuation.

I taught 3 grade for many years, and although a fanatic for correct grammar in most instances, I never corrected the poems of my students.

I think 'Because' sounds perfectly fine in this instance, and if it's in caligraphy, think how beautiful the capital B will look as the first letter on the top.

Go with what you think sounds best. It's lovely.
