I am about to start with my invitations, and I don't know how to word them. My parents are paying for almost the whole wedding. FFIL and his wife are paying for half of the RD, and FMIL and her husband are paying for the other half. As far as that is concerned, we will thank them by toasting them at the dinner, and we will probably send RD invitations worded to reflect that they are paying. The issue is that FMIL and her husband also paid for our DJ. We didn't ask them to do this, they just offered one day, and I feel like we should acknowledge that somehow. It doesn't seem right to word the invitations as though my parents and FMIL are both hosting the wedding, because my parents are paying like 35x what the DJ cost.
Any suggestions? I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, and I would like to acknowledge FMIL's generosity...

ITA, keep it general on the invitation and during the ceremony, just give a special thank you speech to each individual to make them feel special.

Re: Invitation wording situation
I think that would imply that they both split the cost of the wedding, and I don't think that is really fair to my parents, who paid like $35k. FMIL is putting in $1200.

saying thanks is to be respectful. but you can also get the parents separate thank you gifts and just spend a little more on the parents that contributed more.

Of course I will be thanking everyone involved. My issue is more with how to word the invitation...

Re: Invitation wording situation
i honestly think you should try to keep it as general as possible.
i understand that you feel that your parents deserve more b/c they paid more, but just by wording alone, you can possibly cause a rift, so i think it's best for all parties involved to just keep it general and thank individually.

Re: Invitation wording situation
If you want to include your fiance's parents on the invites without making it sound as if they paid for the wedding you could put:
Mr. and Mrs. John L. Smith Request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Jane Ann to Edward Steve Jones son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Franklin Jones
Hope that helps.

Re: Invitation wording situation
We have the same problem going on right now.. My parents are divorced but split the cost of the RH.. FH's parents are probably just paying RD... I wanted to only put my parents but we decided to put 'together with our parents' because it implies my step-parents as well..
We def are going to make a speech to show our gratitude! HTH!

I agree with this wording, its perfect!
I understand, if my parents were paying I would 100% want them to be acknowledged in the invite

Re: Invitation wording situation
My parents are paying for the wedding, and FH's parents are paying for the RD and HM. Our invite says:
Mr. Donald S and Ms. Linda S together with Mr. and Mrs. Michael S............................

Personally, I feel that it is your parents giving you away so they should be on the invite regardless of who paid for what and how much.

I was just talking about this the other day..I don't think his parents are paying for anything at all..but I feel bad not to include them so this was the same idea I had

I love this!!!!! I actually just made a general invitation though with no names so that no one gets insulted and we will get them both a gift to let them know that we apprciate what they have done for us.
