I've seen invites where it said

Mr. & Mrs. john Smith
reuest the honor of your prescense
at the marriage of their daughter

Jane Smith

to

James Jones

if you want you can add 'son of Mr & Mrs Robert Jones' after your FH's name....

does that help?

I'm doing:

On this day I will marry my best friend, the one i laugh with, live for, love.

Shannon XXXX
and
John XXX

together with their parents
Mr. & Mrs. Rober XXX
and Mrs. Janet XXX and the late Mr. John XXX
request the honor of your presence at their wedding.

etc etc etc

I really wanted my parents names spelled out on the invite (based on tradition regardless if FH & I are paying for the wedding) I wanted to be respectful of FH parents therefore it makes since to do it this way.

hope this helps..

Re: invitation wording...help!

We are paying for 90% of our wedding... Each of our parents payed for little things, so we didn't including their names on the invitation and they were okay with it. We asked them first if they would be insulted... and said no! Ask them how they feel...
