Invitations?

I have been looking at invites on the computer and in catalogs I have at home. Does anyone know
what the 'informal' is?? I see that listed with all
the other parts of the invitation, but not quite sure
what it is, or used for? Do I need it....

For example:
Invitation
Respond
Reception
'Informal'
Thank You
Lined Envelopes

I believe it refers to an informal TY. Could have the B & G's name or initials on it - instead of TY - so that they can use the cards beyond the wedding TY's.

I think this is what it is as well- just like a notecard w/ out a 'formal' photo or anything like that.
