Re: invitations

Your mom is mad at you because you are having the response cards sent to your house? Why is she mad at that? Isn't that where they are supposed to be sent?

Re: invitations

they are being sent to me and FH who live in our own apartment but have a po box that we also share where we want the responses to go ... she wanted them sent to her because she is paying for the reception and she is the mother of the bride... but FH and I want to open them together and share in the excitment, my mother doesn't understand that and thinks i'm disrepecting her and stabbing her in the back on purpose

I understand and take your side 100%. Maybe you and your mom would enjoy doing the seating arrangement for your side of the fam. It would be tons of help for you and bonding time for mom.

That's really sad that your mom hasn't spoken to you over this. I am sorry to hear that you are going through this...

I am happy to hear that you got your invitations and are very happy with them.

Congrats.

Re: invitations

I would try calling her with a list of some 'jobs' for her to do. You will make yourself crazy if you do it all alone and if there is tension between you and your mom. Make her feel special by telling her your need her help doing random jobs.

My mom is
-making the seating chart/filliing out place cards
-assembling favor boxes
-organizing vendor papers/contracts

Things I have no desire to do and my mom is loving it. I hope all goes well.

Re: invitations

I truly empathize. My mom can be high maintenance sometimes too....

here's a possible way to diffuse the situation with your mom.... Your invites say 'Mr. and Mrs Smith (your parents) request your presence to celebrate the marriage of their daughter Jane to John, son of Mr. and Mrs. Doe (his parents) .....

According to the authority of everthing.... Martha Stewart weddings, this implies your parents are hosting.... NOT you and fh. Where the RSVPs are sent has nothing to do with who is hosting....

If your invites don't have your parents names on it, that implies you and fh are paying....

For back-up, you can get this info online on any bridal site offering wording for invitations.....

I hope this helps.....

Re: invitations

we did word it that way, implying that she is hosting the wedding... i just dont understand why she is getting so mad at it because i have been involving her in just about everything .. i'm sending her a card today and telling my grandparents that my invites are in and going to hope for the best.. thanks for all the support girls

Re: invitations

hopefully this is just a misunderstanding, and once your mom realizes that the RSVP address doesn't mean anything, she will calm down....

good luck....

Re: invitations

Hey date twin!!! Ok, my advice, but I hope I don't offend you... don't send her a card. For what? Did you do something wrong? Not that I can see. She needs to get over it and move on. You already called and stopped by. If my mother was doing that I would tell her to wallow in it and when she was done sulking to call me so we can continue makeing plans.

I'm sorry to vent on your post but it just PI$$ES me off so much when I hear other people, especially parents, are making the brides life miserable. There are more important things in life than a response card. I have a friend who's FMIL is fighting her tooth and nail on everything to the point where I better not ever meet her bc she is gonna get an earfull.

Ok- need to stop now!

I'm so sorry that your mom is doing this to you. You are an adult and she is acting like a child. Stay strong. You did nothing wrong!
