ok this has probably been asked 1000 times but when should i order invitations? how much time do i need for them to come in, to address the envelopes and when do i have to send them out by?
and my wedding is on a holiday weekend. does that mean i send them out a little earlier or do i just send the save the dates and not worry about it.

Re: Invitations
What holiday is it? Sorry I am having a brain fart at the moment. I know it takes a couple of weeks to get them once youve ordered them. You would make your RSVP date at least a month prior to the wedding....so I would say order themin July if I am doing the math right.

Re: Invitations
If your wedding is in October, I would also order them in July. You want the RSVP at least a month before (September). Then about 4 weeks for shipping (August). Then just to prevent Bridezilla moments, give about a month if something is wrong when they come back. So sometime in July I would orden them - maybe in the end of June to be extra safe.

Re: Invitations
You can always order them sooner rather than later, as long as all the details of your wedding have been set.
Most NY brides mail their invitaitons 8 weeks (or 2 months) before the date of the wedding, with a RSVP date of 4 weeks (or 1 month) before the date of the wedding.
So ... if your wedding is 10/6 ... Mail out 8/6 RSVP date 9/6
Brides who are not having weddings in NY sometimes even mail the invitations 6 weeks before the date of their wedding.
Because of the holiday weekend, you can mail them out a couple of weeks early if you want ... and mail them out at 10 weeks before the wedding. I would keep the same RSVP date though.
In my opinion, its almost never too late to send a Save the Date ... as long as it is within your budget to do so, but there are lots of inexpensive ways to do that.

Re: Invitations
my invites took a week to arrive. and they say 1 month rsvp is sufficient. I hope this is true.

Re: Invitations
I guess I am always jumping the gun.... We ordered our invites in august....
frankly, our rationale was: we know where our ceremony will be, we know where the reception is, and we know the time of both, so order invites NOW. That way, if there's a problem, there's plenty of time to fix it!
Depending on what printing method you selected, it could take anywhere between 2 to 5 weeks to ship.
