If anyone can help me?!?!?! I don't even know where to begin.
I was debating on doing invitations myself to cut down on costs. I saw these online and thought they were sooooo cute, they morph pictures from the past into bride and grooms.

I think the prices were ridiculous, the cheapest ones were like $400 so I was hoping someone might be able to help out. I was hoping if i DIM it would cost me a quarter of that, if even.
I know that a lot of stores like Michaels sell a DIY kit for $20-30, and I could use a coupon so it would be MUCH less.
What do you think? Is this possible and how?

Re: Invitations
I think you could do it in photoshop. However the ink will still run a pretty penny.
Very cute idea :0)

Re: Invitations
I just printed my invitations, 120 of them, no real pictures, just a graphic and a green border, then 4 inserts with a green strip at the top, as well as 6 pages of seals. That took an entire color ink cartridge. I still have to print addresses. All told, it's about $75 in ink. A picture like the one on their website is going to take a lot of ink, especially over X number of invites, not to mention coordinating materials.
Edit: Having looked at the types of invites they offer, yes, you can ABSOLUTELY make these waaaaaay cheaper. The 'Anna', for example, is just cardstock.

Re: Invitations
Just an idea- I am kind of doing mine myself- I found very expensive ones that I loved (like $10 each) and I found a vendor on ebay that is going to help me- she will print them and i will assemble- came out to about $4 each- but this includes ALLL the accesories, so it was a great deal.

Just curious, what do yours look like? Do you have a picture of it?
That doesn't sound too bad to me though, if I spent $50 or so to buy the kits from Michaels/AC Moore and $75 in ink. Thats only $125. Am I thinking incorrectly? I don't want/need a fancy design, just something plain and simple with a graphic, I could probably just keep the graphic black and white, that might save money on ink.
I'm not sure what i'm going to do yet, thank god I have time to worry about it. I should probably talk to my parents and see how much they're willing to spend on invites.
I have a friend thats a graphic artist, so i'm hoping she will at least help me with the graphic,. However, I got an email back from my 'friend' and she said she thought my idea was 'hokey'. She thinks that invitation should be classic and clean. I think thats boring, I like my idea better, and hey its my wedding!!!

Re: Invitations
Just as a side note - the amount of ink your printer goes through - depends on the printer itself. Below are my invites. Everything but the background picture was printed on my computer and i still have over half my cartridges left, and I printed 105 of everything.

Those are gorgeous!!! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the materials and how much did you spend?

Re: Invitations
I should really show my mother some of the things i've seen on the DIY area.
I know she is going to think i'm being cheap by doing it this way but I really think its the best way to get exactly what you want at a fraction of the cost. I just sent her an email with all of the information, the prices and my thoughts!
I'm suddenly really excited about all of this

Awww....Thank you!! I don't mind at all...
For the vellum, and cardstock, I bought them at Staples. The vellum was $10.99 for the pack of 50 (which I got two per page), and the cardstock was $10.99 for a pack with 250 sheets. I still have that left...fit as much on one page as i could!
For the actual pocketfold, I ordered them through Cards and Pockets . The Envelopes I ordered online, both the outside and the response and they were the best prices I could find (and now have my own stock since I over bought!) - but I can't find the web address...
The picture behind the vellum, is a 5x7 picture that I got printed at Costco and all 115 pictures cost me $46.
All in I think it cost $310 for everything...and we did 110 invitations, but have plenty of left over stuff.

OOoh and you're getting married at Atlantis, it's gorgeous there, FH and I went on a cruise in Oct to the Bahamas, we visited Atlantis and I sooooooo want to go back and stay there, just wish it weren't so expensive...LOL
I so wish we could have done a destination wedding, but FH wouldn't hear any of it.

Re: Invitations
The pic quality isn't great, but the green around the invitation is printed on a separate piece of cardstock - we didn't want to spend money per sheet on scrapbooking paper so I just printed the outline on the cardstock. We also got a photo corner punch so the invitation sheet will be set in the back piece. The pocketfold is metallic garnet from Envelopments. The inserts are plain ol' cardstock from Staples. FI hates vellum (I have no idea why) so we stuck to the basics.

Re: Invitations
Graphics aren't hokey, as long as the execution is in good taste. Unfortunately, a lot of the 'clean and simple' stuff also lacks visual interest. For example, the invites with the baby pics come in a version with a pearlized border. White on white. Yes it's clean and elegant, but it's still just white on white. Nothing pops.

Yours are really nice also.
If I did the baby pix one, i'd probably buy one of the kits with a border on it, that way, its really nice and would hopefully 'pop' a little more.

Re: Invitations
I was DIYing my fan programs and gave up . Cutting them out so they are all the same was impossible. I found a great deal on ebay and the seller had invitations on sale with free shipping yesterday. I wish I had got my invitations from them. I spent like twice as much at the Blue Tulip.
