How long before the wedding do I have to ORDER them?

depending on who you use i have heard 8 months you should start looking

well my MOH said today that we need to start lookin for invitations asap...

it also depends on what you plan on doing and who you plan on using. if you are DIY'ing them and they will be detailed then give yourself plenty of time.
also, depending on who you work with, it could be a lengthy process.

i am already working on mine. i have seen a mock up and now im waiting for a proof. i plan on assembling them myself to cut costs and i want to give myself ample time to do them perfect

I am not DIY'ing them I don't think I have the patience. I just want a basic invitation, no bows or ribbons or anything like that...

if you plan on just ordering them out of a book from someone, then i would say 6 months before....if you plan on having them custom made, then i would say at least 8 months b4 bc like jackie said, its a lengthy process.

You are forgetting about sending out the invites 2 months prior. So that is why you need to look 6-8 months before. Then, it's really only 4-6 months that you have.
